Business and Data Analyst
Role Overview
As a Business and Data Analyst within Seriös Group, you will play a key role in helping clients understand, structure and improve their data landscape. You will support the delivery of domain assessments, data strategies, data maturity assessments, governance frameworks, policy development and business analysis activities that help clients gain greater control, clarity and value from their data.
This role combines elements of business analysis, process analysis and data advisory support. You will work closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, analysts and client stakeholders to gather requirements, document current and future state processes, identify risks and opportunities, capture priority use cases and help shape practical recommendations that align with client goals.
You will be working in a technology-agnostic environment across a range of client engagements. Strong communication skills, structured thinking and the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential. The role requires someone who is comfortable working across business processes, governance, data requirements and strategic improvement initiatives.
You will also contribute to the development of consistent assessment approaches, documentation standards and delivery methods across Seriös Group, helping to ensure our work is clear, practical and commercially valuable for clients.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions to gather information on business processes, data usage, pain points, reporting needs and improvement priorities
Support the delivery of domain assessments, including the documentation of business context, data flows, systems, ownership, risks, issues and opportunities
Support the development of data strategies by gathering relevant business context, identifying themes, summarising findings and helping shape strategic recommendations
Contribute to data maturity assessments by collecting evidence, documenting current capabilities and helping assess strengths, gaps and priority improvement areas
Support the definition and documentation of data governance structures, including roles, responsibilities, decision points, controls and supporting processes
Assist with the development of data-related policies, standards and supporting documentation, ensuring outputs are clear, practical and aligned with client needs
Capture, document and structure business use cases, requirements and expected outcomes to support prioritisation and solution design
Analyse and document current-state and future-state business processes, identifying inefficiencies, control gaps, data issues and opportunities for improvement
Work with technical colleagues to translate business needs into well-defined requirements that support architecture, engineering and reporting delivery
Help develop high-quality client deliverables including assessment reports, requirement documents, process maps, governance artefacts, policy drafts and presentation materials
Support the identification and documentation of data quality challenges, ownership gaps, reporting risks and other issues affecting the effective use of data
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of internal methods, templates and approaches used across Seriös Group delivery
Build strong working relationships with clients by demonstrating value creation, professionalism, curiosity, responsiveness and attention to detail
Support pre-sales and early discovery activities where required by helping gather requirements, understand client needs and contribute to solution shaping
Person Specification
Strong analytical thinking, with experience interpreting business challenges, data issues and process inefficiencies in a structured way
Skilled in gathering, organising and documenting requirements, findings and recommendations clearly and accurately
Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills, including running workshops, asking effective questions and drawing out meaningful insight
Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the credibility to build trusted client relationships and work effectively across different levels of an organisation
Commercial awareness and a clear understanding of how data, governance and process improvement support wider business objectives
Strong written communication skills, with experience producing clear, well-structured and professional client-facing deliverables
Organised and adaptable, with the confidence to manage competing priorities and respond to changing client and business needs

What we require from you
Background in business analysis, data analysis, governance analysis, process analysis or a similar role
Strong track record of gathering, documenting and structuring business requirements, use cases, process flows and improvement opportunities
Confidence supporting discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews and workshops to capture business context, pain points and priorities
Skilled in producing clear, structured documentation such as requirements documents, process maps, assessment outputs, governance artefacts and reports
Good understanding of how data supports business operations, reporting, governance and decision-making
Good understanding of data governance principles, including ownership, stewardship, controls, policies and data quality oversight
Sound awareness of key data management concepts including metadata, lifecycle management and policy controls
Proven experience reviewing current-state processes and contributing to practical future-state recommendations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence working across technical and non-technical audiences
Comfortable working in client-facing environments and supporting multiple stakeholders across different pieces of work
